‘Women Moving Forward’ mentoring program to boost female employment in trucking industry

WOMEN in the trucking and logistics industries are moving forward with the help of the new Women Moving Forward mentoring program at the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE.

Twenty-eight women recently graduated from the 10-week program, run by the Australian Logistics Council.

The program is aimed at increasing female participation and skills in the transport and logistics industry.

Among the graduates was the general manager of Taylor's Removals, Melissa Taylor of Toowoomba, who was sponsored by Queensland Transport to complete the course.

Taylor said that in an industry that is 75% men, women are quite outnumbered and the course gives women the confidence to turn to trucking and logistics as a career.

The program was completed by 98 women across Australia.
