Truckies left out to dry in Queensland floods

While many Queenslanders are welcoming the rain, some truckies fear for their jobs.

The Transport Workers Union has warned that the floods causing major road closures will affect the supply of freight from Queensland to the Northern Territory and cost truckies a substantial income.

At least 100 metres of the Barkly Highway has been swept away in the past few days, severing the main route between Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The Highway is not expected to reopen for at least three weeks.
