Truck manufacturers to lead alternative fuels seminars, Canberra

TRUCK manufacturers will promote alternative energy to the nation's lawmakers in Canberra.

The seminars, one of which was held on 16 September 2009 and another to be held on 28 October 2009, will provide parliamentarians and relevant staff with information on the latest natural gas, ethanol and hybrid truck technologies.

For the first session, to be hosted by Martin Ferguson, Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism, will see presentations by the CEOs of Isuzu, Iveco, Kenworth, Mack and Scania presenting the environmental benefits of using compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and ethanol as an alternative fuel.

During the October session, the CEOs of Hino, Volvo and Fuso will speak on the experiences of their companies, locally and overseas, around the introduction of hybrid drive technologies.
