Shell Rimula is joining the fight to reduce carbon emissions among fleet managers and transport operators with its Shell Rimula Energised Protection range of oils, containing low emissions products suitable for heavy duty vehicles.
“The Shell Rimula range includes our next-generation oils, Shell Rimula R4 L and R6 LM, which are low emissions oils,” says Shell’s Transport and Industry Marketing Manager, Mike Anderton.
“They have been designed to decrease vehicle emissions through the reduced amount of ash and SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur) contained in the products, which is a boost for transport companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint.”
Low-SAPS oils also help to protect next-generation engines by keeping the latest emissions control systems working efficiently, supporting vehicle compliance with emissions standards.
“With the Government’s plan to reduce Australia’s emissions to 15 per cent below what they were in 2000 by 2020, next-generation oils such as Shell Rimula R4L and R6 LM are an important tool to help fleet managers reduce commercial vehicles’ emissions,” says Mr Anderton.
In addition to decreasing emissions, Shell Rimula R4 L and R6 LM are longer drain oils, which can assist in improving environmental credentials by increasing up time.
This reduces the amount of waste oil generated and to be disposed of.
“This year, Shell’s Global Solutions Team, in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz, conducted a six-month field test in a Peruvian mine with three Actros 4150 8x4s, to benchmark Shell R6 LM against a conventional mineral oil,” Mr Anderton adds.
“Tests results showed that Shell Rimula R6 LM can double a truck’s oil drain interval from 250 hours to 500 hours, which significantly reduces waste oil, and increases up time.
“This means better environmental credentials and more dollars saved due to reduced operating costs.”
Shell is always looking to meet the needs of its customers.
