RTA funds for Sydney Port trucks to reduce diesel emission

THE NSW Roads and Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) invites road transport operators based at Port Botany to take part in a free diesel retrofit demonstration program during 2009/10.

RTA says the program will involve fitting pre-2002 diesel trucks with ‘partial particle traps’ to reduce diesel truck emissions by up to 50%.

According to RTA, the program is supported by Sydney Ports Corporation and there will be no financial commitments and can be scheduled to take place during non-operating periods.

RTA claims the program is only open to operators working at Port Botany’s container terminal and bulk liquids precinct.

Truck operators may be required to may their truck available for emission testing.
