Queensland government against dedicated B-double route

THE QUEENSLAND Government has rejected Ravenshoe’s urging to create a designated B-double route through the area.

The Ravenshoe community signed a petition that argued a dedicated B-double route would improve safety for drivers and vehicles.

Despite the 1129 signatures, Minister for Main Roads Craig Wallace insists the current system is the safest.

He said the current B-double route through Ravenshoe, where vehicles travel south along the Kennedy Highway onto the southern end of Tumoulin Road, is approved as the safest.

He added there was no funding currently available for the project, prioritised against safety improvement works.
