New minister replaces Tripodi

PAUL McLeay has been appointed as the new New South Wales ports and waterways ministers after the sacking of Joe Tripodi yesterday.

It follows after premier Nathan Rees’ decision to choose his own cabinet. The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) container sub-committee chairman Mike Moylan says the trucking industry hopes to work closely with minister McLeay to resolve a series of issues affecting trucking operations in Port Botany.

“In recent times, truck operators have been forced to queue for up to five hours to pick up containers at port,” Moylan says. “ATA NSW will be seeking an early meeting with minister Mcleay to discuss the continuation of the Port Botany Landside Improvement Safety (PBLIS) process driven by the Sydney Ports Corporation.”
