LINFOX has announced the company has cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 28% since 2007.

“In 2007 we set a target to reduce the rate of emissions by 15% by 2010. Our strategy has delivered a far greater cut, 12 months ahead of schedule,” Linfox chairman Peter Fox says.

Federal Minister for Climate Change, Senator Penny Wong says all Australian businesses needed to do their bit to help reduce Australia’s emissions.

“Linfox is to be congratulated for its outstanding achievement in cutting greenhouse gas emissions,’’ Senator Wong says.

Linfox claims it developed a strategy to reduce its carbon footprint including eco-driver training to reduce fuel consumption, smarter warehouse lighting systems to reduce electricity use, carbon mapping to identify the environmental impact of logistics choices and better utilisation of vehicles and other assets.

“We will continue to improve our environmental performance using better processes, research, efficient technologies and the commitment of our people. Reducing our carbon footprint has become part of our business strategy,” Fox says.
