ATA supports government’s carbon reduction scheme

THE AUSTRALIAN Trucking Association (ATA) says it supports the government’s carbon reduction scheme, said to bring certainty to business environmental requirements.

The ATA’s support comes as the Green party presents its amendments to the Government’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).

According to the Green party, it is pushing for the government to include transport emissions in any trading framework.

The ATA says the only effect of the scheme on most trucking companies will be an increase in the price of diesel after July 2011. The industry will receive a special credit during the first year of the scheme.
