ATA supports decision to regulate Port Botany landside reforms

AUSTRALIAN Trucking Association (ATA) NSW supports Sydney Ports’ decision to move towards regulations for the Port Botany landside reforms if stevedores do not improve performance.

ATA NSW says the decision follows a recent announcement by DP World and Patrick to stop the weekend storage fee exemptions.

According to ATA NSW, the announcement by the stevedores is devastating for the trucking industry and is a step backwards in the reform process.

It says recent delays at Port Botany terminals mean truck drivers are queuing up to four hours each trip.

ATA NSW claims stevedores have not provided reliable service and timely notice of delays and have failed to implement new reforms for better performance at Port Botany.
