ATA, DEWHA release best practice guide for truckers

THE AUSTRALIAN Trucking Association (ATA) in partnership with the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) has developed a new best practice guide to help trucking operators develop environmental guidelines for their business.

The Trucking Industry Environmental Best Practice Guide is designed to help businesses prevent environmental incidents at the depot, while moving goods and while storing, handling and disposing of waste.

ATA Chairman Trevor Martyn said environmental best practice can and should be synonymous with good business practice.

This guide will provide operators with an outline of their general environmental responsibilities, advice on how to achieve environmental best practice in trucking operations and guidelines for incorporating environmentally responsible practices into existing maintenance and business practices.

The guide features case studies about Bunker Freight Lines, Roadmaster, WA Freight Group, Simon National Carriers, Trackaxle, BP, Noske Group, Patrick and Volvo.
